The brother of Jared's experience in Ether 3, his vision of the the Lord's hand and his entry behind the veil, is explicitly (mount "Shelem") and clearly a temple vision. One of the things Moroni tells us is on the sealed portion of the golden plates is his record of "the very things which the brother of Jared saw." According to Moroni, no one's ever had greater visions than these.
When do we get to have them? When we "become clean before the Lord," a description of the state of being pure in the temple.
